hard revisions to house and home

In this photographic series, I incorporate collaged and physical objects that obscure lifestyle advertisements from home interiors magazines. I photograph geodes and decorative stones using the trending “lay flat” editorial photo aesthetic to cover up the products, furniture, and ornaments displayed in the original found images. The work uses the aesthetics of aspirational lifestyle branding by using its own visual language against itself. With the advertisement’s product presentation made invisible, the photos become aesthetic art objects without their original context.

Selected photographs were included in the 2017 Exhibition Visible Light: Trinity Alumni Photography Exhibition at The Michael and Noemi Neidorff Art Gallery at Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas and featured as a part of FOTOSEPTIEMBRE.
